Best. EULA. Ever.
The Photoshop Action Pack Ironclad License
Agreement (PAPILA)You can use these actions for anything you like, and you can give them to your friends and co-workers (or even your enemies, if your experience of the actions leads you to believe that that’s where the real worth of this software lies). However, if you give them to someone else, you must include the whole package - the installer, documentation, sample workflows - and a kiss on the cheek. You must then stand on one foot and cluck like a chicken. (Man, I can see why people want to be lawyers. Once you’ve got someone under your licensing power, you can make them do anything. But I digress…)
Better than giving away a copy, though, is to simply direct the targeted friend/co-worker/enemy to www.completedigitalphotography.com, where they can download the latest version on their own. This is not necessarily any more convenient, but it might save you from having to see the friend/co-worker/enemy in person, and you know as well as I do, that if you take it to them in person, then they’re going to want you to install it, and then explain it, and they’re not really gonna listen that closely anyway, and will invariably end up calling you on the phone to ask you the very questions that you’ve already detailed. (Of course, even if you just give them the URL and they download it on their own, they’re STILL going to call you and ask you how it works, but you will have at least skipped the first explanation.)
Also, if you send them to my site, then Google can serve them ads which they’ll promptly ignore. For some reason, though, Google feels that they should pay me money for having served ads that people ignore. This is fine with me, but it does make one wonder just how smart those Google people really are, don’t you think?
You may not post this software on the web, or include it on any CD collections, or any other media or venue that might deprive me of Google’s few precious pennies of ad revenue, unless you get the express permission of ME, the author. You can contact me at feedback@completedigitalphotography.com.
Finally, I’m giving these things away because I think this kind of software should be readily available, and it’s a fun project to work on. So far, maintaining these actions has led me to a lot of very enjoyable e-xchanges with a lot of people I wouldn’t have met otherwise. Nevertheless, it’s a lot of work and any donations that you could spare are greatly appreciated and foolishly spent. You can make donations using the Paypal button located at http:// www.completedigitalphotography.com/?p=339.
Failure to comply with this license will result in absolutely no consequences of any kind, as far as I know of. I’m mostly just writing this because the Apple Package Maker (the program used to create these installers) had this big blank spot where the license agreement goes, and I couldn’t figure out how to get rid of it, so I thought I’d just fill it instead. Besides, I was so distracted earlier by finishing the Filter By File Type action, that I forgot to go put the laundry in the dryer, so now I have to wait for it to finish so I can make the bed and go to sleep. I guess if I was actually a lawyer, I could hire or coerce someone into doing that for me.
After you click the Continue button down there, you will be asked to click an Agree button, which somehow implies that you have read this, agree with it implicitly, and will henceforth lead your life according to the precepts set forth herein.
Thus endeth the Photoshop Action Pack Ironclad License Agreement (PAPILA). Amen.
